SPACE HEATER SAFETY TIPS

Did you know that 22 out of 1,000 households will experience a water-related disaster each year? Here are Steps To Take if you experience Water Damage and What NOT to Do...

Steps to Take to with Water Damage:

1. Call Paul Davis Restoration immediately at 734-930-0303 or 800-550-4042

Our highly trained and experienced water damage technicians will be there immediately to help you get the problem under control.

2. Turn the Water Off.

It’s basic – but a lot of people forget to do this!

 3. Remove Excess Water.

Mop up as much excess water as possible. To speed the drying process, in cool weather, open     windows.  In hot weather, turn on the air conditioner.

 4. Prop Up Upholstery

Any cushions on couches, etc should be propped up for more even drying.

 5. Remove Area Rugs

Anything that is wet and can be moved should be moved away to dry. This includes area rugs,     magazines, books, or anything that is sitting on top of the wall-to-wall carpet.

 6. Open Storage Containers

Open any boxes, suitcases, etc that may contain moisture to let them dry.

 7. Protect Furniture

Place plastic bags between the legs of your furniture and the wet carpet. This will keep the

pain and lacquer on the furniture from bleeding down into the carpet and ruining it

permanently. Also, open any drawers or cabinet drawers to allow them to dry.

8. Protect Your Valuables from the Water Damage

Remove any valuables from the affected area. This includes, paintings, papers, computers, etc.     Drying out an area creates heat and humidity.

 9. Dry Clothing

Dry all of your clothing as soon as possible. Hang furs and leather somewhere to dry.

Our technicians can give you referrals to good, reputable garment restoration professional

    companies who can help.

What NOT To Do When Dealing With Water Damage…

Don’t Use a Vacuum Cleaner

A regular house-hold vacuum usually cannot handle water. Also, it might create an electrical hazard.

 Don’t Operate Electrical Appliances

Any electrical appliances used in a wet environment can cause an electrical hazard.

 Don’t Touch Outlets or Plugs

Again, avoid using any electrical appliances in a wet environment. Plugs and outlets that are “hot” can also pose electrical shock hazards.
